September 11th is the Day of Caring

The good folks over at United Way California Capital Region have held another successful Day of Caring today! DDSO was excited to host several volunteers from SMUD, Easter Seals, IRS, Zurich Insurance and Intel at our St. Marks Campus for a morning of painting, cool water, and hot pizza!

Day of Caring brings together business leaders, campaign coordinators, certified nonprofit partners and volunteers across the region to work on needed service projects. Working together and fostering team-building within our community exemplifies our LIVE UNITED spirit.

This year more than 1,000 volunteers for 37 different projects were mobilized across the region. Before the volunteer projects began, there was an exciting kick-off rally at Cal Expo!

September 11 is a National Day of Service and is the nation’s largest annual day of charitable engagement. Millions of people throughout the U.S. and in 150 countries observe September 11 by performing good deeds that help others. We hope that you’ll join us to complete our region’s most needed community projects.
