This Social Butterfly is Included in the Community

Elsa lives at a care home and needs constant supervision due to a seizure disorder that has left her in a wheelchair. She came to the Community Integration Program (CIP) over fifteen years ago because she wanted to make choices in her life, socialize with people and be out in the community. The staff at CIP has helped her learn to be more comfortable interacting with others in a positive manner and how to express her opinions appropriately. She enjoys going out for lunch and going out into the community weekly. Pet therapy days at CIP are another special treat, which offers Elsa the occasion to interact with animals. If the services at CIP were no longer available to Elsa, she would be very isolated and have no opportunities to socialize or have a life outside of her care home.

You can support this and other Community Integration Program activities by choosing DDSO for your Day of Giving contribution!
