Sylvia joined DDSO in 2006 as a DSP at Short Center South. What drove her to become the PD was the compassion and respect she has for the participants and their families. She is excited for the opportunity to bring new ideas and direction into a program that she has been a part of and have loved for over 16 years, while still providing the customary services that the participants enjoy each day.
What she finds valuable about the program is that SCS gives individuals with developmental disabilities the opportunity and support to express their creative side through the arts, and help each individual reach their goals of becoming more independent and confident in their everyday lives while also establishing positive connections and relationships with their peers as well as staff, giving the participants a positive outlook and the confidence to try new experiences .
